This wonderful safari travels through the highlights of Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Visiting the ancient Namib Desert, the barren coastline then meandering through the vast Plains of Etosha National Park, before reaching the Northern green belt of the Caprivi which offers a stark contrast to the rest of the country from here we enter Botswana and explore the spectacular Chobe National Park. Here you will enjoy game drives and an unforgettable Chobe River cruise amongst the ellies, hippos and crocs! The tour concludes in Zambia where we will visit the Victoria Falls world heritage site and cruise along the mighty Zambezi.

Day 1 – Windhoek to Sesriem
We  drive straight to the heart of the Namib Desert where we will be staying for the next 2 days. From the campsite you have magnificent views of the mountains.
After lunch, and perhaps a relaxing dip in the pool we set off on the short drive to Sesriem Canyon.

Day 2 – Sesriem and Sossusvlei
We rise early today to catch the sun rising over the spectacular dunes, totally breathtaking. For energetic types you can climb dune 45, or else relax at the bottom of the dune and soak up the atmosphere. After breakfast we will be transferred via 4×4 deeper into the desert where we take a walk to the world famous Dead Vlei and some of the highest Dunes in the area.

Day 3& 4 – Swakopmund

Our drive to Swakopmund today takes us through some very unusual scenery, the strangest of which being the ‘moon landscape’. Before arriving at Swakopmund we will stop off at Walvis Bay to visit the flamingo colony that is present most of the year round. On arrival in Swakopmund we will settle you in the lodge and then take an orienteering drive through the small town. Dinner that night will be spent in a local restaurant, and if you want to experience some Namibian nightlife then your guide can point you in the right direction! The following day is spent exploring the markets, shops and beaches of Swakopmund at your leisure.
There are numerous fun optional activities for the more adventurous. (Quad biking the dunes, sky diving, scenic flights over the desert etc.) Your guide will book any optional activities for you. Please ask Kate if you have any particular activity in mind, and she will forward a price guide to you.

Day 5 – Kamanjab

After breakfast we travel through Southern Damaraland. In the afternoon we reach the Otitotingwe Cheetah Lodge where you will get a chance to part take in the Cheetah activities, feeding and close encounters.

Day 6 & 7 – Etosha National Park
For the next 2 days we will be exploring the vast Etosha National Park in pursuit of interesting animals. Each rest camp has a swimming pool and bar area for you to relax and cool off in the heat of the day. In Etosha you have the opportunity to see lions, leopard, elephant, black rhinoceros, herds of zebra, antelope and giraffes and many other creatures. the birdlife is also very varied, and therefore Etosha is popular with birders. The evenings are spent in the Etosha National Park rest camps, where there is a floodlit waterhole for viewing nocturnal animals.

Day 8: Rundu
We head to the tropical, green Northern border of Namibia. Tonight we will be staying in luxurious bungalows in a beautiful setting. On certain days the local villagers come and perform traditional dancing for you over dinner, you can join in as well if you like. The lodge has close ties to the local community, and there is a chance to visit the local village and school or church. A once in a lifetime experience.

Day 9 – Caprivi

We continue along the River to the Caprivi Strip. You can enjoy the wonderful wildlife as we drive along the Northern border. This evening will be spent in a luxury lodge on the river.

Day 10 and 11 – Kasane (Chobe National Park, Botswana)

Today we cross into Botswana. In Botswana the wildlife is not only found in the parks, it is common to see elephants roaming in theroads as well!
We will be staying on the banks of the Chobe River.
Over the next 2 days we will enjoy a 4 x 4 game drive in Chobe National Park (Chobe is home to the Big 5, rhino, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo as well as many, many other animals), Also included is a fantastic game viewing river cruise, where you have the opportunity to see vast numbers of elephants, buffalo and much more.

Day 12 & 13 – Victoria Falls Zambia

From Botswana we cross the Zambezi River into Zambia. A short drive will find us in the town of Livingstone a mere stones throw away from the magnificent Victoria Falls. We will visit the Falls National Park, where you are free to roam around and explore the area. We will take a sundowner cruise down the mighty Zambezi River, where we can reflect on the adventures of the last 2 weeks.
There are many optional activities you can try, including scenic flights, bungy jumping, elephant rides, white water rafting and much more! Your guide will book any activities for you. If you would like a price guide for optional activities, please ask Kate when booking! Many of these activities begin early morning allowing you to partake before your flight.

Day 14 – Livingstone back to Johannesburg
After breakfast we will take you to Livingstone airport, from where you can continue you onward journey. (There are daily flights from Livingstone to Johannesburg, as well as other African destinations)
