Truly Africa is a small owner run operation which specialises in small group tours (2-6 people) in luxury air conditioned vehicles.

As company co-owner and professional guide Linkie Groenewald has extensive knowledge of the routes we offer, and also has an amazing passion for this wonderful continent, which is always appreciated by our clients.

Linkie acts as the personal guide for all our Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and tailor-made personal tours.

Linkie sets the breakfast table - Camping safari Sept 2007

I have been visiting the Kruger National Park, Namibia, Botswana and other destinations in Southern Africa on annual family holidays since I was four years old. Travelling and experiencing the diversity, and especially the wildlife of Southern Africa has always been my passion, and it gives me great satisfaction sharing my passion and knowledge of our country's natural beauty with the appreciating traveller.

Accommodated Tours

All our accommodation has been carefully selected through rigorous research and testing.

In safari locations we use a combination of luxury permanent tents and private luxury bungalows.
The luxury tents are part canvas, part permanent structure, with en suite bathrooms (the tents sleep 2 persons in twin beds).
Bungalows sleep between 2 and 4 persons, and are spacious, comfortable and well equipped.

In non safari locations we use a combination of private bungalows, log cabins and guest house accommodation.

We do not use backpacker accommodation for our accommodated tours!

Camping Tours.

Our camping tours are on a luxury, non participation basis.

Our tents are excellent quality canvas dome tents, that are extremely spacious (you can stand up in our tents, and there is plenty of room to move around!)
The tents are completely mosquito and bug proof (unless you leave the door open of course.)
There are large windows on all sides, with external window flaps, that can be opened in hot weather and zipped closed in the event of rain.
There is also a skylight area in the roof which can be opened to see the stars at night.

All tents will be erected by the guide.

We use large inflatable mattresses, as opposed to the foam ones used by the overlanding companies.
These will be inflated and installed by the guides.
We provide 2 pillows per person (please let us know if you are allergic to feathers as we will provide you with synthetic fibre pillows.
If you do not have a sleeping bag we can provide you with a good quality sleeping bag for all weathers. (R10 a night. Sleeping bags are laundered after every trip)

You will be provided with 1 torch per person and 1 tin of insect repellent per tent.

Food on tour

All food on tour, (with the exception of restaurant evenings) will be prepared by your guides.

Breakfast consists of fruit, a selection of cereals, toast and jams, yoghurts, cheese, cold meats and fruit juice, with tea and coffee readily available.
Every other day we will prepare a cooked breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage or similar.

Lunch consists of sandwiches, cold meats and cheese, and a selection of salads.

Depending on the location at the time (and weather) dinner is usually prepared around the fire.
Typical menus include :-
braai - chops, wors, baked potatoes, baked onions and a mixed salad.
Potjie - Traditional South Africa stew cooked in a large iron pot over coals.
Oriental stir fry.
Butternut squash stuffed with vegetables and mozzarella cheese, on the braai

We do cater for vegetarians but please let us know in advance so that we can plan a suitable menu for you.

If you have any special food requirements or allergies then also let us know well in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our food, and are constantly striving to create new exciting menu choices for you.
